PowerTrunk Introduces Leasing and Financing Program for Land Mobile Radio Networks

Flexible options will aid state, county and local agency migration to narrowband channels in compliance with the FCC narrowbanding mandate

New York City, NY — August 2, 2010 – PowerTrunk™ Inc. a global leader in Land Mobile Radio (LMR) design, manufacture and implementation, announced its new Rapid Upgrade to Narrowband (RUN) Program which offers a broad range of leasing and financing options to Land Mobile Radio customers. The RUN Program will assist public safety agencies in migrating their LMR networks to narrowband channels in compliance with the FCC narrowbanding mandate.

With the backing of JP Morgan Chase, the RUN Program provides flexible, multiyear leasing and financing alternatives. RUN is designed to ease the financial difficulties faced by state, county and local public agencies as they comply with the FCC mandate to transition to narrowband within the next two years. To further facilitate migration, the PowerTrunk25 LMR system is 100% P25 compatible, interoperable with any vendor’s P25-compliant radios and has ISSI available today. Its TDMA/FDMA-capable infrastructure is software upgradable to P25 Phase 2.

“The narrowband migration deadline is not as far off as it seems,” said Jose Martin, Chief Operating Officer of PowerTrunk. “Agencies in the process of planning their migration to narrowband channels should evaluate the advantages of our RUN Program, whether or not they are facing financial restrictions. They may be surprised to find it is significantly less of a burden than they expected.”

Many current public safety Land Mobile Radio systems use 25 kHz channels. Migration to the narrowband 12.5 kHz system allows twice the number of channels to exist within the same spectrum space. The FCC mandate that all non-Federal public safety licensees using 25 kHz migrate to narrowband 12.5 kHz channels by January 1, 2013, puts a financial strain on many state, county and local agencies. Agencies not meeting the deadline face serious consequences including the loss of communication capabilities.
