New Public Safety TETRA Network for Ciudad Juárez in Mexico
PowerTrunk, Inc. is pleased to announce the roll-out of a new public safety TETRA radio communications network by its parent company, Teltronic S.A.U. and local security solution provider Jomtel Telecomunicaciones for the city of Ciudad Juárez in Mexico. The new system will provide mission-critical voice and data communication services to the various public safety agencies of the metropolitan area, which shares a common border with the US city of El Paso, Texas.
Jersey City, NJ, 4th of February 2021
The Mexican integrator Jomtel has been responsible for implementing the system, and Teltronic has supplied the products that the company designs, develops, and produces at its headquarters in Zaragoza, Spain. The Teltronic TETRA infrastructure, which has already proven its efficiency in hundreds of deployments worldwide, is also marketed by PowerTrunk in the USA and Canada as the “PowerTrunk-T” system.
Among the advantages of TETRA technology, there is greater integrity and security of communications as it incorporates the highest levels of encryption. Likewise, as an open standard, TETRA allows interoperability among equipment from different TETRA manufacturers, and facilitates integration with other radio technologies, such as the existing Tetrapol network in use in the city. The solution offers all the mission-critical functionality required for police operation, including recording of communications.
The integrated system also includes the subscriber radio terminals for the police force, as well as the CeCoCo new generation control center solution for call attendance, radio dispatching, incident management, and emergency coordination. Among other capabilities, the CeCoCo can monitor the GPS position of all radios, including hand portables, and thus can improve decision-making and response times in emergencies.
With over 2.5 million inhabitants, and due to its situation on the US border, Ciudad Juárez is one of the largest cities in Mexico and is an important industrial center. The deployment of the TETRA network forms part of the city’s plan to provide the local law enforcement agencies with the most modern tools available to enhance operations and to combat crime effectively.
